Casey Gates

Helping people has always been a priority of Casey’s throughout his professional life. In Rolfing he’s found a deeply effective way to improve other's lives.

He was hit by a car...

While training for a triathlon he was hit by a car while on bicycle. The accident left him with a pinched nerve in his neck, a shoulder with limited range of motion, and a lot of back pain. During the next year he saw many doctors, each of whom offered a different theory about his pain, and a different approach to resolve it. None of the treatments worked. He felt hopeless and frustrated, and wondered if living with pain was his new reality.

That's when a friend told him about Rolfing. She explained it as deep bodywork that untangles misalignments in the body. Rolfing had relieved her own athletic injuries and she thought that it could help Casey too. He did some research and made an appointment with a local Rolfer.

The Rolfing he received changed his life. It helped him to move better and feel more comfortable in his body. He is now able to exercise and do the things that he loves, with even more ease than ever. His experience inspired him to become a Rolfer, and now he is deeply inspired to share this work with others.

  • Casey grew up in Southern California and graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a degree in Human Services. After graduating, he had the urge to explore the world so he started traveling. He taught english in Taiwan, surfed all over Central America, backpacked through Europe, and volunteered at orphanages in India and Mexico. After exploring 18 countries, he returned to California where he held positions as an advocate for child abuse victims as well as a behavioral therapist for kids with Autism. Helping people has always been a priority of Casey’s.

Casey lives in the Portland area with his wife and young daughters. During his free time he enjoys running, cycling, swimming, surfing, hiking, camping, yoga and cooking.

He continues to advance his education on various topics such as chronic pain, sports injuries, corrective exercise, posture, and biomechanics.

“I look forward to working with you. My mission is to do what I can to help you move better and feel more comfortable in your body.”
